Well, the season opener turned out good for the 33z team. In the heat race, Zack started 8th and got up to 4th, which put him in the B-Main. He finished the B Main in 2nd place. This would put him starting 16th in the A Main which Zack said was one of the most fun races he has ran. He worked his way through traffic without the aid of any yellows and he finished 2nd. He would have liked a yellow to see if he had anything for Tommy Meyer as he made it to the winners circle from 18th! Next week we head to Caney and Humboldt Kansas and we are excited to announce that this will be the first racing trip of our new daughter Addison who will be 2 weeks old this weekend. The little "Hummer Bull Ring was not very good to us this weekend. Track position was crucial. We started in the back of our heat races both days and had a good B Main the first night finishing 2nd. On the 2nd day there wasn't much passing due to it being an afternoon race so we had to take a provisional. We went 18th to 12th the first night, and 24th to 13th the 2nd night. The most fun about the weekend was Zack & Carrie bringing their 2 week old daughter Addison on her first race trip. She not only is perfect but she seemed to adjust to the travel schedule like the rest of the 33z team and family. Grandma Barbi spend alot of quality time with Addy during the races so Mommy could help Daddy. We are off next week but we will see you in LaMonte, MO and Mayetta, KS March 27 & 28. We are planning on racing our new orange car in Lamonte!

The weather down South was pretty good. The trip back home, however, was a little different. The roads were just wet from the storm so it wasn't that big of deal.
There were lots of cars, 69 Friday Night and 59 Saturday Night. Zack made both A Features. Friday night Zack won his heat race and due to the amount of cars that didn't get him enough points so he had to run a B Main which he won. In both races he pulled away from some really good cars. Competing and beating cars like Johnny Bone and Terry Phillips. The track was really rough in both corners, he finished 11th Friday Night.
Saturday Night he had a good heat race. He went from 8th to 3rd which qualified him for 10th in the A Main. He finished 8th in the A Feature.
Addison made the trip again and was out with Mommy for hot laps and heat races Friday night and never even woke up. Saturday night, however, was really dusty and windy so she stayed inside with Grandma. We are headed to Illinois and Missouri next weekend.

This weekend was a combination of family, friends, & Racing. Lets start off with the racing!
Zack won his heat racing from the front row outside and qualified for the redraw where he redrew 5. He ended up 2nd. He raced with Jon Tesch again for the win. There was some side by side racing and there was about 2 cars lengths between them at the end. We love Moberly! It's a great track!
Now for the family & Friends part. We went to Hannibal, MO Thursday night and had dinner with Zack's sister Moe and her family. We also saw Beek's old buddy Leon. We got the news later that night that Tri-City had been cancelled. So we parked the rig at Jones Motorsports in Columbia. We went to dinner with Darrell & Jeanie Jones, Kelly & Dawn Shryock and all the pit crews and family. The next day we met with Barbi's Friend, Pam, for lunch and then headed to the 24 Raceway in Moberly. Lots of our family came to watch Zack race. Moe and her family from Hannibal, Barbi's Mom & Dad from New Sharon, Barbi's aunt & uncle Frank & Susan from Wellington, MO. Zack's brother Mack, his friend Angie, and the kids Alex & Aubrey also came from West Des Moines. On the way home we stopped at Zack's Oldest sister's house in Drakesville, Lori. We had Easter dinner there and an easter egg hunt for some of the grandkids and great grandkids.
We are off for a little bit see ya in May!

We made some hot laps promoting the USMTS Race held in Marshalltown on the 20th of this month. We had fun and talked to alot of people. We also sold a bunch of t-shirts and sweatshirts.

We shook the new car down getting ready for the next big swing. The car wasn't too good in the heat race but did qualify 20th for the A Main. The race went green for 25 laps and had a nice run to 9th. His times we just as fast as the winner so the main set up was really good.

Season Opener - Weekly Racing

First night of the year at our home track. The big 1/2 mile is still awesome. The night was great for us. The old stockcar had its new Lumina body on and new orange paint job to match the modified. He ran 2nd in the heat and a win in the feature. The modified also ran good with a 3rd in the heat and a win in the feature. Zack has won with both chassis at Oskaloosa 8 times now and once at Memphis for a total of 9 times.

We had a strong run in the heat race winning and outrunning Terry Phillips but then it started to rain and we got rained out. If its rescheduled we will start where we left off with the B Mains and the feature.

We didn't have a very good night. We started the tail of the heat race and finished 6th. We missed getting into the A Main by 1 spot so we had to take a provisional. We finished 15th, there wasn't any passing and the track conditions weren't very good.

It was a beautiful day and the track was in great shape. It was a pretty good night, ran 3rd in the heat race, won the B Main and went from 13th to 8th in the A Main.

Tonight was a good night we ended up taking home 3rd in the Stockcar feature from the tail. And with the modified we got 3rd in the heat race getting the 12th starting spot in the A Main and finished 5th!

We have been anxious to run this track. The heat race didn't go so well due to no passing, we started at the end of our heat and finished 6th. We changed the car alot and ran a strong 2nd in the B main. He started 16th in the A Main and moved up steadily to 3rd place. We had a good chance on the restart to move past Jason Hughes for 2nd but the car didn't stick. Got the hard charger award from PBM ( a good USMTS Sponsor)

This was the best night of the year so far. We won our heat race with a lot of top dogs in it. We redrew 3rd for the Feature and ran consistently in the top 5. About 1/2 way through the feature we moved to 3rd and ran Tim Donlinger down. By lap 25 he made the pass on the 3D and then caught Steve Wetzstein on lap 30 and made the pass for the lead. He pulled away for his 1st USMTS Feature Win this year.

We had another good night. We went from 7th to 4th in the heat race and got 2nd in the B Main. He started 16th in the A and headed forward again finishing 6th.

Deer Creek Speedway (show results)

We had a short flash back to the old way Deer Creek was. There was too much water and absolutely no passing in the heats or the B Main. Finally they decided to grade the track and make it racey. We had to take a provisional so we started 23rd. He was passing cars faster than we have ever seen him do. With 15 down and 20 laps to go Zack was running 8th. On lap 16 Zack got spun and had to go to the tail. With 8 laps to go Zack had a shot back toward the front and was up to 6th. ON a restart he got held up and was almost spun again. He had a nice 8th place finish. With the set up change we can't wait to run there again.

We had a good heat race going from 8th to 4th. He finished 2nd in the B Main. He started 16th in the A and was moving up. About 10 laps in he had a rear end/wheel problem and had a rare DNF. This was our 1st one of the year.

The new track was pretty good but passing was tough. We went from 3rd to 2nd in the heat and redrew 4 for the feature which is where we finished. Another good night!

Another good night. Went from 8th to 3rd in the heat race. The car skated a little bit in the heat. He made some changes for the A Main and started 7th and dove to the front to take the lead for the last 14 laps. He was able to drive away and get another USMTS Win!!

We went from 5th to 1st in the heat race. We got the Afco pole award for the most passing points. He redrew 4 for the feature. At the start in Turn 1 some cars got wild and Zack got spun and knocked into the wall. He messed up the front end and had a front left flat. He got back on the track before any laps were down and came from the back to finish 9th!!

Still not one of Zack's favorite places but that goes with the racing circuit. We had a good heat race and made the redraw. He started 4th but got shuffled back to around 10th. From there he made a good charge back to 5th and was closing in on 4th place but never got there. Zack kept himself in the top 5 in Points for the Upper Midwest region.

The track was the best it has ever been when we ran there. We started 9th in the heat race and went to 4th. That started Zack 9th for the feature and he got up to 6th. We are not 2nd in Central Region Points.

The nights was good after thinking it was going to rain. We had a good heat race in the modified and a few changes made the car really good. Zack got the lead pretty quick from 5th place start and got some heat from Brad Pinkerton but was able to pull away for the win. The stockcar was pretty good also. He went from 9th to 3rd in the feature. There were alot of yellows and he made it through one bad wreck when another car's rear end broke and put oil on the track. We also have a little body work now to do. We are taking the weekend off so see ya next week!

This is one of Zack's Favorite Tracks. We had a good heat starting 7th and finishing 4th. We redrew number 1 for the feature. It was his first time on the front row of a USMTS Feature this year. He stretched out a good lead by lap 20 out of 40 and was lapping cars. He was trying to get around a lapper and unfortunately clipped a tire, almost spun, went through the mud in the infield and came back on the track. The tow got knocked out quite a bit but we still luckliy finished 3rd. We will be back there for a hunt race!

This is one of Zack's least favorite tracks because of the conditions. It was very rough with alot of holes and ruts. After a not so good heat race Zack won the B Main and started 17th. He moved forward a little and then just decided to go for it. He was very hard on the car but finished 3rd. He got the hard charger award. We found some broken parts but again the awesome Skyrocket Chassis survived.

We started on the front row of our heat race and won. He redrew 5 for the A Main. The track was pretty rough and one lane, he hung on for 7th.

This was a very nice track. He started on the rear of a loaded heat race and finished 6th so he had to run a B Main, He started 10th in the B Main and won it!. He started 13th in the A Main and from the start you could tell he was fast. The race went green all 35 laps and no cars DNF'd. He made a pass for 3rd on the last lap and was catching the leaders. The transponder times showed Zack fastest each of the last 10 laps. Could of used a caution to see how it would have turned out. Got another hard charger award!

What a beautiful facitliy. The heat was pretty good but he still had to start 4th in the B Main. He won the B Main so he started 13th in the feature. About 5-6 laps in the track locked down and it was one lane. He ended up 11th. It would have been nice to run before the late models to get a little bit more of a racey track!

Great American Stockcar Shootout

It was the big night for the stockcar but we ended up having to come from the back in the feature. It was a nice run up to 8th from 26th though. The modified was very exciting. Kelly Shryock came down from Fertile to race the 1,000 to win modified. The race between him , Zack, and Brad Pinkerton was awesome. Brad was on the top, Zack was on the bottom, and Kelly was trying to stay out front. In the end Zack took home the win.

We had another rain out at Osky so we husted to Deer Creek for the Gopher 50. We had to start at the tail of the last heat but finished 5th so we started 20th in the A Main. He steadily kept moving up for a nice 4th place finish. He almost made it to 3rd.

Fair Race

This was the first time at Bloomfield. We got 2nd in the heat race and started 8th in the A Main. He worked up to 2nd with 3 laps to go. There was a caution and on the restart he passed the leader in turns 1 & 2 and pulled away for the win.

It was New Sharon night at the Southern Iowa Speedway. All of the New Sharon people got in for free. It was a nice smooth track but was heavy all night. Several cars lost their motors. Zack only ran the modified tonight and ran 2nd in the heat race and came from 8th to 3rd in the feature.

Stockcar Shootout

We qualified for the redraw in the stockcar but it didn't turn out so well. Zack got caught up in a couple of incidents and had to restart on the top. The top was not the place to be as the bottom was faster. He finished 15th. The track was locked down for the A modified feature as well with a 7th starting spot, Zack finished 4th.

2500 to Win Modified Special

This was another heavy track. He finished 4th in the heat race from the tail but only the top 3 redrew. He started 14th in the A Main but it got ugly. There were lots of banging and wreck, Zack had to go down through the infield to avoid wrecks, and also had a Right Rear Flat. With 20 down Zack just pulled in to avoid anything else.

Zack had an awesome heat race pulling away for the win from some good cars. He redrew 5th for the A Main and finished 4th with the top 4 pulling away from the field. it ended up pretty much on the top only. The low line was close but Zack tried it and lost a spot so he went back to the top.

Tonight went pretty good. We ended up 2nd in the modified with another win going to good friend Brad Pinkerton and we got 5th in the stockcar starting towards the rear of the feature.

The night started off a little rocky. Had a tough heat race and finished 6th which put Zack 5th in the B Main finishing 2nd to Kelly Shryock. Started 14th in the A Main and got up to 7th. So another solid run for the 33z machine!

Friday night was pretty rough but didnt turn too bad. Started at the tail of a STACKED heat race and got 8th. The track was one line and there wasn't much passing. We didn't qualify through the B Main so Zack had to take a provisional, starting 23rd for the feature. He did end up getting to 13th though. So not too bad for the night considering the track.

Saturday night went MUCH MUCH BETTER!! Zack started on the pole of his heat race and won it, redrawing the 3rd spot for the start of the feature. The car was good and he made the pass for the lead and ran away with it winning the A Main!

Zack started on the pole of a very tough heat race but pulled off the win for the heat. He redrew 6 for the feature and got up to 3rd pretty early and then lost a few spots getting back to 5th. There was a caution and on the restart he started on the outside and got past a couple of cars and then passed Kelly Shryock who was running 2nd and ended up 2nd. Good run tonight!

Tonight was another good night for the 33z team. Zack was excellent in his heat race going from 5th to 1st for the most passing points. He redrew 7 for the feature and the track was very one lane at this point so he got up to 5th and stayed there for the finish but another strong top 5 for us tonight!

We had a tough heat race but we won the B Main. We started 14th and it was exciting to see Zack make it all the way to the Top 5 finishing 5th!

Zack won the heat race and got 2nd in the A Main. He almost pulled off the win. He wrapped up his 1st Regional USMTS Championship. He also got his 6th top 5 in a row. Now on to the "HUNT"!

This was our first hunt race. We started 5th in the heat, got 4th in the B Main and started 23rd in the A Main. He had a pretty good run up to 11th. It wasn't the way we wanted to start the hunt but there is still alot of racing left. He dropped from 3rd to 6th in points.

This was another not so good night. He got 7th in the heat race, 4th in the B Main, and did not get in the feature. There were alot of cars and the track wasn't so good for passing. He dropped to 8th in Points.

This was a much better night. He went from 5th to 2nd in the heat and redrew 6th for the A Main. He raced really hard for the win but had to settle for 2nd. Went back up to 5th in points tonight.

He got 3rd in his heat race, and won the B Main. He Started 16th in the A Main and had an awesome run up to 3rd. He is now up to 4th in points.

Track position was a premium here. He went from 6th to 4th in the heat race. He ran the B Main and finished 2nd. He started 18th and finished 18th. There were alot of good cars each night that missed the show.

Zack had a good heat race and got the win. He drew 7th in the A Main and fought hard for a top 5 finish. The track was pretty rough and there was a lot of back and forth. Zack was back as far as 8th or 9th and came back to 5th.

This is one of Zack favorite places and the place of his very 1st USMTS win in 2005. The top and bottom lines were very even so there wasn't much passing. He went from 6th to 5th in the heat race and 3rd to 2nd in the B Main. He started 15th and got to 11th. He has been holding his own in the points.

We added this race to the schedule caused by Owatonna being rained out. He had a good start in the heat race but got spun. He started at the tail of his B main and got 5th, but had to take a provisional. He started 24th but still had a great run up to 8th.

He got 2nd in the heat race and redrew 7th for the A Main. He missed the set up a little bit but still got 9th. Still 5th in points though!

Once again there was no passing in the heats at the Creek and no passing in the b mains. He had to use a provisional again and came from 23rd to 10th. Zack never gave up and salvaged what it looked like a bad night.

This is the last race of the Labor Day Swing. He had a good heat race going from 9th to 3rd. He started 9th in the A Main and finished with a solid 5th. It was a good swing with all 6 races in the Top 10 and 3 Top 5's. He is 4th in the Hunt Points after 13 out of 18 nights. Maybe a win still out there. We have good Hunt stats with 10 top 10's and 6 top 5's. It's not all over till its over! We are heaed for Minnesota for 2 Nights in Brainerd and the Fall Jamboree at the Creek.

It was a long haul to make to Brainerd but it was in the Hunt and it was a new area. The first night was pretty good with a 3rd place in the heat race, it qualified him for the 9th starting spot for the Feature. The A Main was exciting going up to 5th and back to 10th, and up to 3rd but finishing 6th.

After the feature, we serviced the car and got it ready for the next day. We loaded up and left the pits and headed for Little Falls, Minnesota where we had to do a Caseys General Store Appearance. It turned out to be one of the best ones we did this year. One of the store managers (Amanda) did a lot of work in preparation for this. The night we drove there we did a late night visit to Perkins. On the door was a flyer with Zack's picture and that we would be at Caseys the next day. When we got there Amanda welcomed us with specials and balloons. There was live remote radio spots as well. It never ceases to amaze us the caliber of people, their commitment, and excitement level they posess as a Casey's employee. It's easy to see why Casey's are going strong. We have met so many nice people, made friends, and fans of Caseys, USMTS, & 33z at those appearances over the last 2 years. Amanda had her whole family there, neighbors, friends, etc. She told me she went door to door with flyers, put them on lots of businesses around town and told everyone she knows. She and her family came to the race that night also. We have lots of pictures and also sold lots of shirts and made a bunch of friends and fans.

The 2nd night was similar we went 8th to 4th in the heat race getting another 9th place starting spot in the A Main. That is our 3rd, 9th place starting spot in the hunt so far no up front starts. He went back in forth in the A Main finishing 7th.

USMTS - Fall Jamboree

This was the much anticipated last 3 races of the hunt. It was a little scarry knowing you must be in the top 30 out of over 100 cars to make the A Main.

Night 1 was good. Zack won his heat race and redrew 8 for the feature. He raced hard and at the end he was trying to make a move on the top and gave up a couple spots but still ended up 5th.

Night 2 Zack went from 13th to 2nd in the heat race, it was high passing points and he also locked up the National Points for the Afco Pole Award. He redrew 6 and we could tell his car was good early. By lap 18 Zack was leading. He needed to survice several restarts and did some hard racing with last years hunt winner, Tim Donlinger who actually led lap 27 and also did some racing with Ryan Gustin. The final 12 laps went green and Zack pulled away and got the win. It was the 2nd year in a row for winning the Friday night at the Fall Jamboree. Beek's next year plan is to be the 1st to win Friday and Saturday Night back to back. The victory lane was special with Carrie and Addison and Beek and Barbi and pit guys Josh and Rod, our motor builders Mark and Jamie from Sputs, Afto Shock guys Ben & Rick, and lots of friends and fans. We moved into 3rd in hunt points also.

Night 3 we got another heat race win. It got us 15th starting spot. Zack had to start 3 wide and he hit the wall pretty hard the first lap, He bent up the front end and with 1-2 laps to go the lower A frame broke and had his only 2nd DNF of the year out of 50 races. He still finished 4th in points for the Hunt.

2009 Totals for those 50 races: 4) Wins, 25 Top 5's, 39 Top 10's. Congrats to friend Kelly Shryock for winning his 9th USMTS Title.

USRA Fall Challenge

The stockcar was good finishing 3rd, he started 12th but the track was all one lane so he finished 12th. The modified was the best heat race of the year for Zack at Osky. He raced hard with Al Hejna and Brad Pinkerton made a couple of good moves on Al for the win. He redrew 7 for the A and moved up to 2nd but couldn't make the pass on Corey Dripps. He had a spring jump out of place and lost the drive he needed to make the pass.

Fall Special

Well it was Zack's last night in the stockcar. We have had it for sale and it sold at Memphis. The car was fast but while he was moving up thru the pack he got caught up in a wreck. He had a total of 40 feature wins, lots of top 5's, it provided us with alot of thrills & excitement and had lots of fun with teamate Brad Pinkerton, former car owner Bobby Greiner, and lots of other great drivers. We have enjoyed this car, working on it, becoming a part of our racing lives, watching Zack race and win in it. We want to send out a special thanks to Bobby Taylor for all the times he did the body and painted it like it was his own. Sponsors like that are hard to find. They have a special passion and love for the racing world and what we do.

In the modified heat race he started in the back and finished 5th which put him 18th for the A Main. He had a shot at the end for 2nd but finished a strong 3rd.

The 2nd night at Memphis he started in the back of the modified heat but this time went to the front and won the heat. He redrew 6 for the A Main and it didn't take much time for him to go into the lead and pull away from the field. It was his 2nd night on his new 2010 skyrocket, we can't wait to get it dialed in for the next season. We will do some racing in Texas yet this year to help on that.

2nd Night of USRA Fall Challenge

He ran good in the heat race getting into the redraw and redrawing 5. He moved up to 3rd by midway. Brad PInkerton started up front and was gone. Zack worked hard the last 4-5 laps and figured out a way to pass for 2nd on the last lap. It was a great weekend with a win, 2nd and 3rd. See ya'll in Texas!

USMTS Southern Series

We made the trip down to the Houston Area to a 3 day event at the Battleground speedway. Zack got in the redraw the first night by coming from 8th to 3rd in the heat race. He redrew 8 and finished 6th - he ran pretty well. The rain started shortly after feature and rained a lot. It washed us out the next two nights and the weekend was over. We left our trailer at JD's Body Work a good friend of Chris Brown's. The plan is to come back in 2 weeks to run at Houston Raceway Park!

USMTS Southern Series

We got back to Texas and once again the rain was coming. It washed out the Wednesday Practice, but we got Thursday night in. Zack ran 2nd in the heat race and started 14th in the A Main. The track was very rough so Zack was patient until lots of others tore up lots of stuff. Zack was fast at the end finishing a strong 6th place.

Friday morning we woke up to SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! (It set a record for the earliest in the year in Texas to recieve snow!) It was followed by more rain and we had another rain out for the weekend! That ended our season so we headed back for Iowa. We beat the snow home and got the rig all put away for the season. Special Thanks to J.D & Chris Brown Racing Team for the hospitality extended, a place to work on the car, and hangout. Race people are the best at this that we know of!

2009 Year End Summary (show results)

The 33z Race Team started the season March 6 in McCool Junction, Nebraska and ended December 3 in Houston, Texas. We had alot of weather cancellations this race season. We ran the modified 68 nights and the stockcar 10 nights. We sold the stockcar late in the year so that book is now closed. Zack managed to get one more win on it this year, and it happened to be the night he also won the modified feature. That was the 9th time in his career where he picked up double feature wins! Some of the stockcar statistics we have done are: 230 races, 40 wins, 107 Top 5's, 156 Top 10's, and only 18 DNF's. It was a very fun part of last 8 years. There were lots of memories, great sponsors, fans, & family time together. We can't explain the value of the time other than great!

The modified season was our best ever. Zack had 10 wins, 4) USMTS. He also won the USMTS Central Region Title, and was 1st place in the AFCO Pole Award Points. He had strong finishes in 2 other regions, and placed 4th in the 18 race USMTS Hunt, which is our version of the NASCAR Chase for the Cup. He won the Friday night feature at the Fall Jamboree at Deer Creek Speedway in September. Zack was also in the top 5 of laps led for the year. He was one of the Casey's General Stores sponsored Hunt cars with Doritos on board. We made several appearances at Casey's storesj in Iowa, Missouri, and Minnesota. Other than winning 10 times this year he also has gotten 38 Top 5's, and 55 Top 10's. In 6 1/2 years he has raced the modified 535 times, won 52 times, has 207 Top 5's, and 319 top 10's. Again this year we had GREAT sponsors to help make the 33z team successful. Your support is very much appreciated. We always keep our car clean, looking good, and display our sponsors to the best of our ability and talk alot about them to others. Of course we would really like you on board again in 2010.

Our plans in 2010 are to run as many USMTS races as we can, and maybe even some Southern Series races as well. We will also continue to race at Oskaloosa on Wednesday Nights whenever we can.
